POLICY WIRE — Los Angeles, USA — Kelly Clarkson has brought down the curtain on her talk show with a heartfelt, music-filled finale. After a seven-year run, the singer-songwriter concluded The Kelly Clarkson Show with a special hour-long episode on Monday.
The 44-year-old artist was deeply moved during the pre-recorded show, dedicating the final performances to her children, River, 12, and Remy, 10, who were present in the audience. My children have always been my top priority, Clarkson expressed towards the end of the episode. They are a major reason I started this show, for the stability and schedule it provided. And they are also a big reason why it is time to say goodbye.
Clarkson continued, I am incredibly proud of them. They are the best kids in the world. When we began, River was in kindergarten. Now, she’s about to enter middle school. My son Remington even made his singing debut on stage with the band. She then inquired about their favorite moments on the show. Remy mentioned enjoying meeting Jason Momoa and singing “My Way” with her band. River’s response brought Clarkson to tears: “I like watching you shine every single day.”
As the audience applauded, an emotional Clarkson said, Oh no! that is so sweet. Okay, you got me. You just ‘Oprah’-ed me on my own show. I love you, too, referencing Oprah Winfrey’s emotional moments on The Oprah Winfrey Show.
Clarkson announced in February that she was ending her Emmy-winning show to “prioritize my kids, which feels necessary and right for this chapter of our lives.” This decision followed the passing of her ex-husband and the father of her children, Brandon Blackstock, who died at 48 after battling a rare form of skin cancer.

The Kelly Clarkson Show, which first aired in 2019, was initially filmed in Los Angeles before relocating to New York City in 2023. The final episode featured Clarkson performing “Golden” from KPop Demon Hunters, a fan-requested song, and debuted her new single I’d Be Lying. She concluded with her customary sign-off: Have a great day, and if it is not, change it.
Despite the end of her talk show, Clarkson will be back on TV as a judge on NBC’s The Voice, starting September 21.
