POLICY WIRE — Atlanta, USA — Former University of Tennessee standout Joshua Josephs eagerly anticipates the 2026 NFL Draft, where his professional football future will be decided.
The Path to Professional Football
Josephs honed his skills during a prominent four-year tenure with the Tennessee Volunteers, following an impressive high school career at North Cobb High School. As he prepares for the draft, airing live from Thursday through Saturday, Josephs remains grounded, deeply connected to his roots and the traditions that have shaped him.
No matter which NFL franchise selects him, Josephs intends to carry a piece of his cherished home environment with him. This steadfast connection is largely attributed to his close-knit family and their shared passions.
The Four F’s: Food, Faith, Family, and Football
The Josephs household operates on a foundational philosophy encapsulated by “the four F’s”: Food, faith, family, and football. Patricia Josephs, Joshua’s mother, underscored the importance of their collective activities. “We’re a tight-knit family, so we do things together. And cooking is one of the keys to bring us together,” she remarked.
Joshua is the youngest among eight siblings, a testament to the bustling and supportive environment in which he grew up. His mother, a native of Jamaica, is not only a matriarch but also a successful entrepreneur, owning Fern Gully Jamaican Cafe in Kennesaw.
A Culinary Heritage: Jamaican Roots and Family Bonds
Patricia’s culinary prowess has profoundly influenced Joshua. He often speaks of her as an exceptional chef, always willing to impart her knowledge. “She’s always been an amazing chef, an amazing cook,” Joshua shared. “She always tries to show me little things that I can work on. Whether that be simple things like making fried plantains or making dumplings or just watching her cook, so that I’m able to learn and pick up on it.”
While his mother humbly deflects credit for his explosive athletic capabilities, her passion for cooking has undeniably been passed on to her son. Joshua expressed his admiration, stating, “I see the time and the care that they put into it for the people they love and I truly want to be able to do that just moving forward.” Patricia, in turn, takes immense pride in seeing her son thrive, fueled by her cooking: “And to know that, you know, he eats my food, gets strong and goes out there and show it. I love it.”

Natural Athleticism and Draft Day Excitement
Patricia Josephs firmly believes her son was endowed with innate athletic talent, anticipating his seamless transition to the NFL. “Since he was like four years old, he dominates everything he do. Basketball, football, track,” she noted, viewing his impending draft as a natural progression. “So you know, it’s for me, it’s natural, it is just another stage in life to me. He’ll always be my baby.”
The highly anticipated 2026 NFL Draft festivities will unfold in Atlanta, with Joshua Josephs surrounded by his extended family and closest friends. True to their traditions, the celebration will feature an elaborate menu showcasing his favorite Jamaican dishes, including savory brown stew fish and zesty jerk chicken.
