POLICY WIRE — Jerusalem, Israel — Israeli law enforcement officials confirmed on Monday that eight individuals have been taken into custody following a series of violent incidents in the West Bank over the weekend.
The arrests stem from an investigation into attacks directed at Palestinians, a group of European diplomats, and Washington Post photojournalist Heidi Levine. Authorities initiated the crackdown, codenamed Operation Olive Leaf, during a dawn raid conducted in collaboration with the Shin Bet security agency.
While initial reports from some outlets suggested a higher number of detainees, police confirmed the apprehension of eight suspects who have since been transferred to authorities for further questioning. The operation marks a significant response to the recent escalation of violence in the occupied territory.
