Israeli Air Strikes Kill Nine in Gaza Despite Ceasefire Claims
Israeli air strikes in Gaza result in nine Palestinian deaths, contradicting claims of a ceasefire agreement. Israeli Energy Minister denies halt in attacks.
POLICY WIRE — Jerusalem, Israel — Israeli air strikes continued in Gaza for a second consecutive day on Sunday, resulting in the deaths of at least nine Palestinians. This occurred despite claims of a breakthrough in efforts to implement last year’s Gaza ceasefire agreement, announced by US President Donald Trump.
Israeli Energy Minister Eli Cohen stated on Sunday that there was no agreement to halt the attacks on Gaza. He further asserted the necessity for Israel, which already controls 70 percent of the Strip, to take full control of it. Cohen is a member of Prime Minister Netanyahu’s cabinet.
