Iran Executes Monarchist Following Conviction for Armed Attacks in Kerman
Iranian authorities have executed Ali-Sina Mostafavi after his conviction for armed attacks in Kerman during the ongoing conflict with the US and Israel.
POLICY WIRE — Tehran, Iran — Iranian judicial authorities have carried out the execution of Ali-Sina Mostafavi, a man identified as a monarchist who was found guilty of orchestrating armed assaults in the southeastern city of Kerman.
The judiciary’s official news outlet, Mizan, confirmed the execution on Wednesday. Officials stated that the charges stemmed from violent incidents occurring during the current period of hostilities between Iran, the United States, and Israel.
State broadcaster IRIB reported that Mostafavi’s conviction was linked to a series of armed operations within Kerman. Among the specific incidents cited by authorities was a shooting that took place on March 24 in Azadi Square.
This execution follows a broader trend of capital punishment in the country as tensions remain elevated. Recent reports from the judiciary also noted the execution of two other individuals on June 16, who were accused of leading armed unrest in Shahrud earlier in 2026.
