Hundreds of Thousands Flood Amsterdam in Mass Protest Demanding Action on Gaza War
Over 200,000 protesters march through Amsterdam to demand the Dutch government take tougher measures against Israel regarding the ongoing war in Gaza.
POLICY WIRE — Amsterdam, Netherlands — A massive crowd of protesters took to the streets of Amsterdam on Sunday, voicing a powerful demand that the Dutch government adopt a more assertive stance regarding the conflict in Gaza.
Tens of thousands of participants, with a significant portion wearing red, moved through the city during what is marked as the fourth ‘Red Line’ rally. The demonstration aimed to put direct pressure on officials to implement stricter measures against Israel what protesters describe as a genocidal war in Gaza.
Data from the Dutch branch of Amnesty International suggests that more than 200,000 people participated in the event. This high turnout underscores the growing public pressure on the Netherlands to shift its current foreign policy.
The event was organized by The Rights Forum in collaboration with 13 other organizations. Notable groups behind the mobilization include Amnesty International, PAX, and Oxfam Novib, all of which joined the call for stronger government intervention.
The march represents the latest in a series of major demonstrations in the capital seeking a definitive response to the humanitarian situation in the region.
