Hongkong Land Acquires Wheelock Place in Landmark US$900M Deal
Hongkong Land purchases Singapore’s Wheelock Place for US$900 million, marking SCPREF’s first acquisition. Deal details and expected completion date inside.
POLICY WIRE — Singapore — Hongkong Land has announced the acquisition of Wheelock Place in Singapore for approximately S$1.1 billion (US$900 million). The transaction is being executed through its Singapore Central Private Real Estate Fund (SCPREF), representing the fund’s inaugural acquisition since its establishment in February.
Wheelock Place, a mixed-use commercial property located on Orchard Road, is being purchased from an entity affiliated with Hong Kong-listed Wharf Real Estate Investment Company. The announcement was made in a statement released by Hongkong Land on Thursday.
The acquisition marks a significant move for SCPREF, which was launched earlier this year to invest in prime real estate assets in Singapore. The fund is managed by Hongkong Land, a leading developer — and investor in prime commercial properties across Asia.
“This acquisition underscores our confidence in Singapore’s real estate market and our commitment to investing in high-quality assets,” said a spokesperson for Hongkong Land.
The transaction is expected to be completed by the end of the year, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.
