The incident began when Tywon Dashawn Stephens, 27, sped through the scene of a traffic accident in Dayton on September 3. Police pursued him using dash and body camera footage, eventually stopping him with a PIT maneuver.

After escaping during a foot chase, Stephens reportedly jumped into a police car and drove it at high speed through a house on Greenway Street. He allegedly tried to seize an officer’s gun and bite him. Seven officers were injured during the arrest. Two residents of the home were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
