GOP Committee Report Accuses APA of Systemic Antisemitism
New House report accuses American Psychological Association of systemic antisemitism, citing internal emails and leadership failures.
POLICY WIRE — Washington, D.C., United States — A House of Representatives committee released a scathing report on Thursday accusing the American Psychological Association (APA) of perpetuating antisemitism across its official communications and events.
The investigation, led by Chairman Tim Walberg (R-MI) of the Education and Workforce Committee, began in December 2025. It stems from a months-long effort by House Republicans to examine internal documents within the country’s largest psychology organization.
According to the report, radical activist-academics successfully co-opted the APA over several years. The committee asserts this maneuvering was used to politicize the association and promote an ideology that demonizes Israel while minimizing Hamas terrorism.
The findings highlight alleged systemic biases found through resolutions, listservs, newsletters, publications, and conferences. The report indicates that the association failed to address concerns raised by its members regarding these ideological shifts.
Criticism also targets a revised APA resolution on antisemitism approved in February. The House report suggests that the new language diluted the meaningful definition of the term, a stance that drew backlash from conservative oversight bodies.
Despite the accusations, the APA has brushed off the antisemitism complaints. The professional group released a statement addressing the House report but maintained its existing stance on the investigation’s conclusions.
In contrast, some organizations representing Jewish psychologists and Jewish Americans celebrated the publication of the report. These groups view the findings as a necessary exposure of internal dynamics within the association.
