Federal Judge Blocks Pro-Trump Ads Funded by Taxpayer Dollars
A federal judge halts pro-Trump ads using taxpayer funds. Legal battle over government propaganda intensifies.
POLICY WIRE — New York, United States — A federal judge has issued an immediate order to halt the broadcast of advertisements funded by U.S. taxpayers that promote President Donald Trump, citing legal concerns over their use of public funds for political messaging.
The ruling came after a lawsuit filed by Common Cause, a Democratic candidate for Alabama’s state House, and a New York labor union. The suit was part of a broader effort by multiple groups, including the Democratic National Committee, to stop the ads from being aired.
U.S. District Judge Jennifer Rochon ruled that the plaintiffs had shown a strong likelihood of success in their case, stating that the ads could cause irreparable harm and that the public interest supported the injunction. The administration had previously claimed it had stopped placing new ad buys, but the court ruled the issue was not moot and ordered the cancellation of all remaining ads.
