Falcons QB Michael Penix Jr. Expected to Start Against Bears Following Rib Injury
Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. is on track to start Sunday against the Chicago Bears after recovering from a rib injury sustained last week.
POLICY WIRE — Atlanta, USA — The Atlanta Falcons appear to have dodged a significant personnel crisis as quarterback Michael Penix Jr. is trending toward a return to the field this weekend.
Penix is currently slated to lead the offense against the Chicago Bears on Sunday, provided he experiences no further complications during his recovery. The signal-caller was forced to exit last week’s 30-23 loss to the Baltimore Ravens during the final minutes of regulation due to a rib injury, which ultimately kept him sidelined for the duration of overtime.
Head coach Kevin Stefanski provided an optimistic update to reporters on Wednesday, confirming that the team expects Penix to be under center for the upcoming Week 6 matchup. Stefanski noted that the quarterback is in line to start as long as everything goes accordingly throughout the remainder of the practice week.
