A YouTuber known as an 'urban explorer' has broken into the EastEnders set for the third time in six years, sparking security concerns.
POLICY WIRE — London, UK — The EastEnders television set has been breached for the third time in six years by a YouTuber who identifies as an ‘urban explorer.’ In the latest incident, the intruder was observed entering the Queen Vic pub and donning costumes discovered in the fish and chip shop.
The individual, whose online presence focuses on exploring abandoned or restricted areas, posted footage of the intrusion on their channel. The BBC, which produces EastEnders, has yet to comment on the incident, but previous breaches have raised concerns about the security measures in place at the set.
This recurring issue highlights the challenges faced by production companies in safeguarding their properties from unauthorized access. The previous two incidents occurred in 2017 and 2019, with the intruder gaining entry by circumventing security protocols.
The BBC hasn’t released any statements regarding potential changes to their security procedures following these incidents. The production of EastEnders, one of the UK’s longest-running and most popular soap operas, continues despite these disruptions.
