POLICY WIRE — Boston, USA — Delta Air Lines has decided to terminate its Boston-to-Honolulu nonstop route earlier than planned. This decision comes shortly after the airline announced the route’s return for the winter season.
The 5,095-mile flight, which was once the longest domestic route in the U.S., will conclude its operations on January 4, 2027. This date is approximately two months ahead of the initially scheduled end.
A Delta spokesperson explained that the airline regularly assesses and modifies its network to align with customer demand. They apologized for any inconvenience caused and assured that affected customers would be contacted directly with alternative travel arrangements.
The daily service between Boston Logan International Airport and Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu will continue as planned from December 19, 2026, until January 3, 2027.
Passengers on this route will travel using an Airbus A330-300. The last flight from Honolulu to Boston is set to arrive on January 4, 2027, at 7:37 a.m.
The westbound flight from Boston to Honolulu takes about 11 hours and 40 minutes, while the eastbound return trip lasts around 9 hours and 40 minutes due to favorable jet streams.

Delta introduced this route in November 2024, marking it as the longest nonstop domestic flight in the country. However, the service has undergone several changes, including a suspension in February 2026 followed by the recent announcement of its return for the winter.
With the discontinuation of the Boston route, Delta’s New York-to-Honolulu service will become its longest domestic flight, covering approximately 4,983 miles and taking nearly 11 hours westbound.
Despite this change, Delta plans to operate its largest-ever Hawaii schedule this winter. This includes new flights from Minneapolis-St. Paul to Maui. The airline will maintain nonstop service to Honolulu from almost all its hubs, except for Boston and New York’s LaGuardia.
