Cuba Slams US for Alleged Tolerance of Anti-Government Terrorist Groups
Cuba accuses the US of allowing anti-Cuban groups to operate with impunity following a speedboat attack and the arrest of 10 Panamanians.
POLICY WIRE — Santa Clara, Cuba — Cuban authorities have issued a sharp condemnation of the United States, claiming the American government permits anti-Cuban organizations to conduct terrorist activities on U.S. soil without fear of punishment.
The accusations surfaced on Thursday, following an incident involving a Florida-registered speedboat where Cuban exiles were injured in what appeared to be an attack.
In a prepared statement, de Cossio asserted that Anti-Cuban groups operating in the United States resort to terrorism as an expression of their hatred of Cuba and the impunity they believe they enjoy.
The Cuban government further alleged that Donald Trump has tolerated the financing of operations designed to destabilize the island, as well as armed infiltrations.
Officials cited a specific incident involving a boat in Villa Clara and the subsequent detention of 10 Panamanian nationals as evidence of these activities.
The claims come as the wounded exiles from the Florida-registered vessel continue to recover from their injuries.
