China-Russia Ties Strengthened: Xi and Putin Forge Closer Alliance

President Xi highlighted that under their joint strategic guidance, China-Russia relations have reached a historic high. He stressed the need for both nations to pursue peace, development, cooperation, and mutual benefit, aiming for higher-quality development of their ties.

Willy Lam, a senior China fellow at the Jamestown Foundation, noted that both Xi and Putin benefit from showcasing their close ties. Putin, in particular, uses the alliance to demonstrate Russia’s support from China in terms of purchasing oil and gas, as well as other forms of financial backing.
