Canada Retaliates with Up to 50% Tariffs on Hundreds of US Goods Amid Trade War

POLICY WIRE — Ottawa, Canada — Canada has announced retaliatory tariffs of up to 50% on hundreds of US goods, escalating the ongoing trade war between the two nations. The move comes after negotiations failed to resolve the trade dispute initiated by the United States under President Trump’s aggressive tariff agenda.

The Canadian government stated that the tariffs are a direct response to the US’s imposition of levies on Canadian aluminum and steel. The retaliatory measures will affect a wide range of US products, including agricultural goods, consumer electronics, and industrial machinery.
