Boris Johnson Evades Russian Drone Strike During Ukraine to Poland Train Journey
Boris Johnson narrowly avoids danger as a Russian drone strikes a train near the Ukrainian-Polish border during his return from Kyiv.
POLICY WIRE — Kyiv, Ukraine — Former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson was involved in a tense security incident after a Russian drone targeted a railway line in western Ukraine, just hours before he crossed into Poland.
The former leader was traveling on a separate train from Kyiv to Warsaw when an attack occurred on a nearby locomotive. Officials confirmed that the train he was aboard received an evacuation alert but was not directly hit by the drone strike.
Johnson criticized Russian President Vladimir Putin for what he called a ‘warped’ approach to conflict, following the incident. He had been attending a security conference in Kyiv before departing for Poland, where he later spoke about the dangers of ongoing hostilities in the region.
