The 24-year-old athlete is transitioning to home-based recovery more than two months after a severe outfield collision resulted in a life-altering spinal cord injury.

Lasko departed the Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation on Wednesday, exactly two months after his admission. Staff members honored his progress with a ceremonial farewell as he exited the facility, marking a significant milestone in his ongoing rehabilitation journey.

The injury occurred on June 30 during a game in Frisco, Texas, when Lasko and teammate Devin Taylor collided while pursuing a fly ball. The impact caused fractures to Lasko’s C6 and C7 vertebrae, leaving him paralyzed from the chest down. While his dominant right arm remains a focus for strength training, Lasko has reported experiencing some sensation and tingling in his legs and feet.

Lasko expressed a shift in his perspective, noting that he is learning to embrace patience rather than rushing his recovery. He plans to spend time in his hometown of Jackson, New Jersey, before staying in a hotel near the rehabilitation center for another two months to continue his specialized therapy.
