Anderson Cooper Mocks Trump’s Recent Fixation on Male Physiques in CNN Segment
CNN host Anderson Cooper highlights President Trump’s recurring comments on men’s bodies, featuring a montage of remarks about various political figures.
POLICY WIRE — New York, USA — CNN anchor Anderson Cooper opened his Wednesday broadcast of Anderson Cooper 360 by targeting President Donald Trump’s recent public remarks regarding the physical appearance of Ohio Senator Jon Husted. Cooper labeled the president the assman-in-chief, referencing a Seinfeld clip to frame his critique of Trump’s repeated commentary on the senator’s physique.
During a recent rally in Youngstown, Ohio, the 80-year-old president described Husted’s body in detail, noting, “I looked at his ass, and I looked at the whole, and then I looked at his hands. Look at his hands. He’s got these like claws.” Trump later expanded on these observations at a Greenville, North Carolina, event, claiming he had never studied a man’s body before but felt compelled to remark on Husted’s muscular build and large feet.
Cooper countered these claims by airing a montage of various instances where Trump has complimented the appearances of other men. The compilation included remarks about Kentucky congressional nominee Ed Gallrein, Georgia Republican Mike Collins, and Rick Jackson, all of whom the president described as handsome or beautiful. The montage further featured comments regarding Montana Senator Tim Sheehy, Tennessee Senator Bill Hagerty, and athletes including Jaxson Dart, Harrison Butker, and Arnold Palmer.
The CNN host noted that Trump’s approval rating currently sits at a bouncy 32 percent according to a recent CNN poll. Cooper also addressed a moment where the president mispronounced his name as Allison Cooper, stating he simply turns the other cheek to the long-running jab.
Regarding the political landscape, Cooper pointed out that Senator Husted is currently trailing his Democratic opponent, Sherrod Brown, by five points in the latest CNN poll of polls. A Marist University survey from October 18 places Husted at 44 percent support. Husted, who assumed office in January 2025 following a special election to succeed Vice President JD Vance, previously served as Ohio’s Lieutenant Governor from 2019 to 2025.
Beyond CNN’s coverage, the Drudge Report also drew attention to the president’s rhetoric by organizing headlines about Husted in the colors of the LGBTQ+ pride flag. Despite not being categorized as a MAGA populist, Husted continues to receive significant financial support from pro-Trump and Republican organizations ahead of the upcoming midterm elections.
