Amazon Announces Plans to Hire 300,000 Seasonal Workers for the Holidays
Amazon ramps up holiday hiring with plans to bring on 300,000 seasonal workers across the U.S., marking a 20% increase from last year amid retail growth.
POLICY WIRE — Washington, United States — Retail giant Amazon revealed on Tuesday that it intends to bring on 300,000 seasonal, full-time, and part-time employees throughout the United States for the upcoming holiday shopping period, representing a 20% jump compared to the previous year.
This massive workforce expansion coincides with projections from the National Retail Federation, which anticipates that total holiday retail sales will surpass the $1 trillion mark for the first time ever.
Earlier in September, the company disclosed that it increased the base starting pay for full-time employees to $20 an hour, noting that average earnings for full-time staff members sit at approximately $24 per hour.
Temporary personnel will pull in an average wage of $20 hourly, according to the e-commerce corporation. Furthermore, beginning in 2027, seasonal staff members logging a minimum of 30 hours per week will gain access to the identical healthcare packages offered to permanent full-time personnel.
Open roles will become available on a weekly basis starting in October and running through December, the company noted.
