POLICY WIRE — New York, United States — Oscar-winning screenwriter Aaron Sorkin has expressed frustration over Jesse Eisenberg’s decision to decline a role in the upcoming film ‘The Social Reckoning,’ which is set to be a sequel to ‘The Social Network.’
Sorkin revealed that he spent three days attempting to convince Eisenberg to reprise his role as Mark Zuckerberg, but the actor remained unmoved, even by financial incentives. The screenwriter told Entertainment Weekly that money was not a motivator for Eisenberg and called the situation infuriating.

Eisenberg ultimately turned down the part, leading to Jeremy Strong being cast in the role instead. Sorkin said he had already drafted an outline of arguments to persuade Eisenberg, including references to his past performance and the potential for future success in the film. Despite this, Eisenberg chose not to participate, stating he no longer wished to be associated with the character.
