POLICY WIRE — Jakarta, Indonesia — A prison official in Indonesia has been dismissed following an investigation into the use of high-end amenities by inmates at a facility in West Java.
Wisnu Hani Putranto, the former warden of Cibinong Prison in Bogor, was removed from his position and also lost his status as a civil servant, according to reports from Kompas. The move came after an internal review found irregularities in how state assets were managed and violations of standard procedures at the facility.

At least 17 staff members, including Wisnu, faced some form of disciplinary action. One individual was dismissed, five others were recommended for severe punishment, and 11 received moderate sanctions, said Rudi Setiawan, the Inspector General of Indonesia’s Ministry of Immigration and Corrections. The probe followed a surprise inspection that revealed a cluster of upscale residential units separate from regular prison cells, equipped with air conditioners, televisions, refrigerators, and sofas.
