Gypsy Rose Blanchard is advocating for Kenan’s Law to combat cyberbullying after the death of her fiancé, Ken Urker. Learn about the petition and details.
POLICY WIRE — Louisiana, USA — Gypsy Rose Blanchard has launched a petition titled Kenan’s Law, aiming to reform how social media platforms address persistent online harassment. The initiative follows the death of her fiancé and the father of her child, Ken Urker, who passed away at his Louisiana residence on Thursday, which marked his 34th birthday.
The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies discovered Urker deceased after responding to a call at 6:15 p.m. Thursday. Investigators noted the presence of a handgun, a syringe, and a brown powdery substance near the body, though a spokesperson stated that there are currently no indications of foul play as the investigation remains ongoing.
Blanchard, 35, stated that Urker faced intense public scrutiny and relentless cyberbullying on platforms such as Reddit and TikTok. She emphasized that while public figures are subject to criticism, the level of cruelty directed at Urker was unacceptable, noting that she is now determined to turn her personal grief into a meaningful cause.

The proposed Kenan’s Law seeks to compel social media companies to improve their handling of repeated harassment reports. Blanchard clarified that the petition is not intended to stifle free speech or criticism, but rather to ensure that platforms recognize the humanity of those being targeted.
The couple, who shared a daughter named Aurora Raina Urker born in December 2024, had a long history together. They first connected as pen pals while Blanchard was serving time for her role in the 2015 death of her mother, Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard, and later reconciled in April 2024.
At the time of writing, the Change.org petition has garnered more than 900 signatures. Blanchard has urged the public to support the measure to help protect others from similar experiences, stating that she hopes to advocate for a more responsive system.
