POLICY WIRE — Boston, United States — A critical search operation is underway in the Atlantic Ocean after a medical aircraft lost contact during a flight from Bermuda to Boston.
The Gulfstream G-100 was en route from L.F. Wade International Airport to Boston’s Logan International Airport with six individuals aboard. Authorities have not yet disclosed the identities of those on board.

A formal search and rescue alert was issued around 1:20 a.m. Saturday. The U.S. Coast Guard confirmed the effort is focused off the coast of Nantucket, with support from the Federal Aviation Administration and the Rescue Coordination Center. Massport, which manages Boston’s airport, expressed concern for the passengers and their families.
The aircraft is operated by Latitude Air Ambulance based in Hamilton, Ontario. The company has been providing medical evacuation services since 2009, using Gulfstream jets equipped with full ICU capabilities and long-range travel systems.
