Boy Survives Stabbing That Killed Four Returns Home with Police Escort

POLICY WIRE — Houma, Louisiana — A Louisiana boy who survived a violent stabbing that claimed four lives returned home with a heartfelt police escort, marking a moment of resilience and community support.

The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office shared a video on Facebook showing the young survivor, wearing a Spider-Man cap and neck brace, greeting officers as they escorted him from the hospital to his home in Houma, an hour southwest of New Orleans. The boy, who was critically injured in the attack, expressed gratitude to the officers who helped save his life.

Local authorities hailed the boy as a “superhero” following the incident, which occurred on September 12 when deputies responded to reports of a stabbing on Ashland Drive. The boy was airlifted to a hospital outside the area in critical condition. During the investigation, four others were found dead in nearby homes. A 47-year-old man, Kaegan Jude Solet, was later arrested and charged with four counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder.

A neighbor, Dulce, described how the boy ran to her house for help as the suspect pursued him. She recounted that the attacker grabbed the boy, pushed him down, and struck him again before the boy lost consciousness. The family called police, and Solet was identified as a person of interest the same day. He was taken into custody the next day and later released from medical care to face charges.
