POLICY WIRE — Dublin, United States — An elderly couple from the San Francisco Bay Area is under suspicion for the fatal shooting of their son-in-law near a local park over the weekend, according to authorities.

The incident occurred when a Dublin police sergeant spotted a man lying on the ground at the Dublin Sports Grounds parking lot on Dublin Boulevard. The officer stopped to check on the individual, and shortly after, multiple 911 calls were received about the scene.

Emergency responders confirmed that the victim, identified as 40-year-old Jonathan McKinsey of Dublin, had been shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at the location. Police later detained two individuals who were found nearby and are now being held on murder charges. Both suspects, 77-year-old Shouyong Zhang and 77-year-old Shili Chen, are residents of Dublin and are believed to be McKinsey’s parents-in-law.

Authorities have stated there are no other individuals of interest in the case and that the public remains safe. The pair is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday. The exact circumstances surrounding the shooting are still under investigation.
