The incident occurred on September 13 when Karla Ibarra approached Jennifer Benavides at a bus stop and asked to borrow her phone. While speaking about the baby, Ibarra suddenly offered the child to Benavides, along with his federal identification documents, and asked if she wanted to take him.

Benavides, shocked by the offer, attempted to intervene and brought the infant to a nearby friend’s home. However, Ibarra left the residence in an Uber without her son. Authorities were contacted, and the child was later placed with family members. Ibarra faces charges of child abandonment and endangerment.
