Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the attack and ordered enhanced rescue efforts. No group has claimed responsibility, but suspicion is likely to fall on the Pakistani Taliban (TTP). The attack follows a series of recent violent incidents in the region, including a roadside bomb that killed six soldiers in Hangu district the day before.
