POLICY WIRE — Seattle, United States — Amazon has announced a significant raise in its minimum starting pay for full-time operations staff, increasing it to $20 per hour, according to the company’s recent statement.

The adjustment marks a $1 increase from the previous rate, with Amazon noting that the average hourly wage for its workers will now be $24. This change affects employees involved in logistics, transportation, and other roles at fulfillment centers across the country.

In addition to the wage boost, the e-commerce giant is rolling out new benefits for all U.S. employees. Starting October 1, workers will receive 10% off eligible fresh groceries on Amazon.com and the Whole Foods website, as well as a 20% discount when shopping in-store at Whole Foods locations. The company also plans to offer lifetime memberships with First Tech Federal Credit Union, beginning in late 2026, for qualified employees, their spouses, and children.
