POLICY WIRE — London, United Kingdom — The BBC has officially announced the return of its hit reality competition, The Celebrity Traitors, with a premiere date set for Thursday, October 1, at 8 p.m.
Host Claudia Winkleman will return to the Scottish Highlands to oversee the second season of the deception-based game. The series is scheduled to air weekly on Thursday and Friday nights.
A newly released trailer offers a glimpse of the high-stakes environment, featuring a star-studded lineup including Bella Ramsey, Michael Sheen, Richard E. Grant, and Maya Jama. The full roster of contestants also features Amol Rajan, James Acaster, James Blunt, Jerry Hall, Joanne McNally, Joe Lycett, Julie Hesmondhalgh, King Kenny, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Miranda Hart, Myha’la, Professor Hannah Fry, Rob Beckett, Romesh Ranganathan, Ross Kemp, Sebastian Croft, and Sharon Rooney.
Participants will face off in intense missions, all competing for a £100,000 prize to be donated to a charity of their choosing. The production will be accompanied by the return of the official video podcast, The Celebrity Traitors: Uncloaked, hosted by Ed Gamble and available on BBC One, BBC iPlayer, and BBC Sounds. This follows the massive success of the inaugural season in October 2025, which drew an average of 14.9 million viewers and peaked at 15.4 million during the finale.
Ed Havard, the BBC’s director of entertainment, promised that the upcoming season will escalate the drama, noting that viewers can expect “tears” and paranoia that’s off the scale. During the Edinburgh TV Festival, Havard teased that the new episodes will feature events never before seen on the show.
While the celebrity edition prepares for its launch, the standard non-celebrity version of the program is slated to return in January 2027.
