In a recent conversation with GQ, the British actor discussed his preferences for high-end items such as timepieces and cigars. However, he disclosed that while working on the renowned vampire saga Twilight, he misjudged his enthusiasm for automobiles.
Pattinson, now 40, reminisced about acquiring a Shelby Mustang, a car he had coveted since childhood. He believes it was a GT350 or a Fastback, similar to the one featured in the 2000 action movie Gone in 60 Seconds. The actor recounted mortifying incidents where the vehicle would malfunction, often in the presence of large crowds of tourists, forcing him to manually move it out of sight.
Frustrated, Pattinson declared, that is it. I’ve had enough of this. I need something that just works. He admitted to having a penchant for cars, whiskey, and cigars but confessed to not fully understanding what he was getting into.
The actor, known for his role as Edward Cullen in all five Twilight films alongside Kristen Stewart, concluded the series with the release of Breaking Dawn: Part Two in 2012. A 2017 online Barnett-Jackson car auction listing verified that Pattinson once possessed a 1968 Shelby GT350 Hertz edition, one of 224 constructed. The car, restored in 2011, had only 400 miles on it.
In 2012, Pattinson also revealed his fondness for vintage cars during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. He disclosed purchasing “several” used vehicles online, including a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado, which he negotiated down from $2,500.

In Primetime, Pattinson portrays To Catch a Predator host Chris Hansen. The film, set to release on September 25, features Pattinson as the long-standing TV personality in a grim interpretation of the origin of the NBC Dateline show, which focused on apprehending sex predators in the act. Directed by Lance Oppenheim, the movie also stars Unbelievable actor Merritt Wever, Skyler Gisondo, and singer Phoebe Bridgers in her acting debut.
