POLICY WIRE — City, Country — Amazon’s strategic gamble on The Grand Tour has proven successful. The streaming giant is already planning additional episodes, even before the debut of the rebooted series on September 4th.
The revamped motoring show will feature social media sensation Francis Bourgeois, alongside automotive YouTubers Thomas Holland and James Engelsman. They step into the roles previously held by Jeremy Clarkson, James May, and Richard Hammond.
Executive producer Andy Wilman shared that preparations for another series are underway. He emphasized the importance of establishing the new hosts as distinct personalities in the eyes of the audience. Wilman noted, A first series is always chaotic, but this trio needs time to make the second series their own.
Bourgeois, whose real name is Luke Nicolson, humorously compared his new role to Mo Farah running in Size 14 wellies. Meanwhile, Holland and Engelsman expressed both excitement and self-deprecating humor about taking on the challenge.
The new series promises to tackle intriguing motoring questions across diverse and demanding landscapes. The hosts will venture into the Angolan desert and explore Malaysia’s automotive culture.
