The trend, known as the ‘Cat in the Hat’ trend, has gained traction nationwide. It involves young individuals sharing AI-generated content featuring someone dressed as the iconic Dr. Seuss character, seemingly pursuing people at their schools or homes.

Law enforcement in Kentucky and Colorado has taken action against this trend. The Allen County-Scottsville Crime Task Force in Kentucky launched an investigation after several students reported receiving menacing messages on Snapchat and other social media from someone claiming to be the ‘Cat in the Hat’.

The task force announced on Facebook that they had identified a minor associated with a TikTok account under investigation and that the situation was being managed appropriately. A minor connected to the ‘Cat in the Hat’ videos in Allen County surrendered to the police, facing criminal charges but avoiding severe penalties.

In Colorado, a 14-year-old from Grand Junction High School was apprehended in relation to the trend. Local police became aware of a TikTok post hinting at the ‘Cat in the Hat’ trend, suggesting an appearance at a local middle school and random houses.

The teenager was charged with Interference with Staff, Faculty, or Students of Educational Institutions and Harassment, then released to his parents. Grand Junction Police emphasized their commitment to school safety and collaboration with community partners to ensure the security of students, staff, and schools.
