POLICY WIRE — Monrovia, California — In an unforeseen twist, a fugitive wanted on a no-bail felony probation warrant was apprehended at a Panda Express restaurant where police officers were enjoying their lunch on July 17.
The Monrovia Police Department released body camera footage showing the moment two officers recognized the man they had been seeking for approximately a month. The suspect, whose identity remains undisclosed, had previously evaded arrest by fleeing onto a freeway.
This time, the man walked into the Panda Express located on the 600 block of West Huntington Drive, unaware of the officers’ presence. Upon spotting him, the officers swiftly moved in, tackling him and securing him with handcuffs.
In the footage, the bewildered suspect asks, “What did I do?” to which one officer replies, “You’ve been wanted. You’ve been running from me for like a month.”

After the arrest, the officers were able to resume their meal, highlighting the bizarre coincidence of the event. The Monrovia Police Department humorously commented on Instagram, At this point, we’re not sure if it was good police work, bad timing, or the irresistible smell of chow mein. Either way, an arrest was made.
