Tragic Mistake: Pennsylvania Man Fatally Shot by Police After Wrong Door Knock

POLICY WIRE — Upper Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania — A young man from Pennsylvania, Glenn “Bubba” Pysher, lost his life after a tragic misunderstanding. The 22-year-old was shot by police officers after he mistakenly tried to enter a stranger’s home instead of his friend’s following a night of drinking.

Pysher had been celebrating a friend’s birthday at a bar in Upper Pottsgrove, about 45 miles northwest of Philadelphia, on Saturday night. His friends decided to continue the party at one of their houses, and Pysher opted to walk to his friend’s place. However, after having a few drinks, he arrived at the wrong location.

Unaware of his mistake, Pysher knocked on the door of the wrong house, asking to be let in. The couple inside, frightened by the unexpected visitor, called 911, leading to police arriving at the scene around 12:30 a.m. in response to a possible attempted break-in.

Upon finding Pysher at the back of the house, an encounter occurred, resulting in police fatally shooting him. Pysher was unarmed, carrying only a cell phone and a book bag at the time of the incident.

His mother, Erin Pysher, shared that he was on the phone with his friends at 12:32 a.m. and believes he was shot by 12:35 a.m. Pysher was set to start classes at Saint Elizabeth University in New Jersey on Monday, having recently transferred to the school to play baseball, his favorite sport.

Described by his family as a lovable goofball, Pysher was remembered for his cheerful personality and his love for baseball. His sudden death has left his family and friends in deep sorrow.

The reason behind the officers’ decision to open fire on Pysher remains unclear. The incident was captured on surveillance cameras in the backyard of the home, and the footage is now part of the ongoing investigation.
