POLICY WIRE — London, UK — Families who lost loved ones in the 1988 Lockerbie bombing are preparing to attend the terrorism trial of the accused bombmaker. A suitcase bomb detonated aboard Pan Am Flight 103, killing all 259 passengers and crew, and 11 people on the ground in Lockerbie, Scotland.
The accused, Abu Agila Masud, is expected to face trial in a US court. Masud, a Libyan national, was recently extradited to the United States. He is alleged to have constructed the bomb that brought down the aircraft.
