POLICY WIRE — London, UK — Laura, a 38-year-old mountaineer, has successfully completed the monumental task of standing on all 1,072 summits across the United Kingdom. This achievement places her among an exclusive group of over 100 individuals who have accomplished this feat.
The completion of this challenge, often referred to as the ‘full house’ of UK peaks, underscores Laura’s dedication and perseverance in the face of considerable physical and logistical challenges. The list of summits includes well-known peaks as well as lesser-known hills, requiring extensive planning and navigation skills.
“it is an incredible feeling to have finally stood on all these summits,” Laura said. “This journey has been both physically and mentally demanding, but it is been an unforgettable experience.”
Mountaineering experts note that the completion of all 1,072 peaks is a rare accomplishment, highlighting the significance of Laura’s achievement. The list, maintained by the Database of British and Irish Hills (DoBIH), is frequently updated and includes peaks ranging from the Scottish Highlands to the South West Peninsula.
