Urgent Recall: Over 200,000 Magnetic Toy Sets Pose Severe Child Injury Risk

POLICY WIRE — Washington, D.C. — The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued an urgent recall for over 200,000 magnetic toy sets due to a significant risk of severe injuries to children. The small internal magnets within the toys pose a critical ingestion hazard.

The CPSC warned that if multiple magnets are swallowed, they can attract each other across intestinal walls, leading to serious internal injuries, including perforations, infections, and in extreme cases, death. The commission has received reports of children suffering severe injuries after ingesting these magnets.
