Second Post-Mortem Reveals Extensive Injuries and Foreign Substance in Mir Raza Ali’s Body

POLICY WIRE — City, Country — Initial findings from the second post-mortem examination of 25-year-old business owner Mir Raza Ali have revealed multiple injuries and a congealed black substance in his mouth and throat, according to Police Surgeon Dr. Summaiya Syed. Ali, the owner of eatery Wafflix, went missing on July 28 and was found dead the following day with a gunshot wound in bushes near Shahi Qila Ground in Gulistan-i-Jauhar.

Dr. Syed reported that Ali had sustained multiple injuries to his head and face, including fractures to his nasal bone and skull. Injuries were also noted on his right flank — and feet. A congealed black substance was discovered in Ali’s mouth — and throat. Regarding the bullet wound, Dr. Syed indicated that a fractured rib in the back served as the entry point for the gunshot, with the bullet exiting through the front. DNA samples and other specimens have been collected and sent to a laboratory for further analysis, including chemical and gunshot residue tests. The cause of death will be determined upon receipt of the laboratory reports.

Advocate Jibran Nasir, representing Ali’s family, alleged that the young man was tortured before being murdered. Nasir demanded the replacement of the entire investigation team, accusing them of misguiding the family and attempting to label the death a suicide. He detailed injuries such as a fractured nose, swelling and congealed blood around the lower jaw, and a broken hyoid bone, suggesting strangulation. Nasir criticized senior police officials for their handling of the case and expressed a lack of faith in the current investigation team.

Mir Hussain, Ali’s father, reiterated his belief that his son’s death was a murder, not a suicide, as previously suggested by some officials. The exhumation of Ali’s body was conducted under the supervision of a judicial magistrate, with the deceased’s parents and the investigation officer present. The family remains convinced that Ali was kidnapped, tortured, — and murdered.

The controversy surrounding the medical board was also addressed. The initial eight-member board was reconstituted, leading to objections from Ali’s family. The new five-member board, led by Dr. Syed, includes members from outside Karachi, which has raised concerns among the family — and their legal representative.
