POLICY WIRE — Nonthaburi, Thailand — A high school in Thailand’s Nonthaburi province, north of Bangkok, experienced a deadly shooting on Friday, resulting in the deaths of six individuals, including three teachers and three students, according to Thai police.

The shooter, identified as a student at the school, opened fire on fellow students and staff members, leading to the tragic loss of life. Authorities have yet to disclose a motive for the attack.

Thailand has one of the highest rates of gun ownership in the region. Despite recent pledges to tighten gun laws, the country continues to face repeated instances of gun violence.

In the wake of the shooting, local and national authorities are expected to review current gun control measures and consider additional steps to prevent future incidents.
